April marks Earth Month and also the start of our quarterly 1st Mondays – Networking and Expert Panel events. For this 1st Mondays we focused on all things cleantech and partnered with San Diego Community Power, a community-driven, not-for-profit public agency providing cleaner energy to the San Diego region.
Huge thank you to our event partner Cleantech San Diego for supporting the programming and UCSD Office of Innovation and Commercialization for providing the space at the Design and Innovation Building. Also, thank you to our startup exhibitors from the evening that shared their services, startups, and organizations: Kiln Rancho Bernardo, RestorVault, BRG Energies, Pow-dr Technologies, Carbon Blade, and Hopsctch.
After a quick lightning talks from out startup founders, Karin Burns, CEO of San Diego Community Power, led the panel discussion with our featured panelists:
- Zora Chung, Co-Founder & CFO at ReJoule
- Gareth Evans, Founder & CEO at VECKTA
- Carlos Felipe Gaitan Ospina, CEO & Co-Founder at Benchmark Labs Inc.
The panel centered around how local startups will meet our clean energy goals through innovative solutions with optimized batteries, efficient energy platforms, and weather forecasting. They also discussed possible market opportunities in the cleantech space and shared insights on fundraising and winning grants to fund their startup.
