San Diego Startup Buzz, in case you missed it…

TakeLessons launches a new platform that serves more than just musicians, Embarke and Shopventory each raise over $1M, and Cashie Commerce launches BitCoin powered commerce!

At Startup San Diego, we’re always looking for ways to promote the ecosystem, the companies, and the entrepreneurs who are working tirelessly to better themselves, their businesses, and our community.

One way to do that is to share the great news and publicity that these companies are getting.  This is our first column focused on just that!  Below is the latest and greatest buzz coming from some of our awesome San Diego companies…

1)  Take a moment to click through the links
2)  Read about these movers and shakers
3)  …and of course share these links on your favorite social channel(s)!

San Diego’s 7-year-old TakeLessons provides a marketplace to connect students with teachers and tutors.  They launched a brand new suite of products to serve teachers of all kinds, not just music instructors, which our own Union Tribune did a great story on.

Embarke closed a VC-backed seed-round of funding at $1.25 million.  San Diego super-angel Howard Lindzon’s Social Leverage led the round.  Pando Daily did a great article on how Embarke is making email marketing smarter, and Xconomy wrote about how much of the funding came from San Diego.

Fresh off the TechStars train in Boulder, and back in San Diego, Shopventory provides simple inventory management for mobile points of sale.  The just closed on a $1 million round and got a great spot on Yahoo! Finance about how they take inventory management and business intelligence reporting to the next level.

Cashie CommerceCashie Commerce

Cashie Commerce got some great press regarding their launch of BitDazzle, where Forbes talks about why this platform is the best place to buy and sell with BitCoin, and why Cashie Commerce thinks it’s here to stay.

Xconomy Slide-Show of San Diego Angels

Now, while this may not be publicity for a startup…this is a great bit of publicity for the ecosystem.  Without funding, many companies will never see the light of day.  Xconomy put together a great start to the list of active angel investors in town, and we look to see it continue to grow!

Again, please don’t forget to share the love.  Our community grows as we promote it.  Have some killer news?  Don’t be shy.  Let me know about it!
