Newest Board Member - Michael Sharp

We want to give a warm welcome to our newest Startup San Diego Board Member, Michael Sharp, Co-Founder & CEO at DialStack!

As the Co-Founder & CEO at DialStack, he helps vertical SaaS platforms embed a phone system and VoiceAI inside their product, without becoming a telephone company. The Startup San Diego team is excited to have Michael be part of the volunteer board to help with the organization’s mission to connect, educate, and inspire founders and local talent to grow an equitable San Diego startup ecosystem and entrepreneurial community.

Learn More About Michael Sharp

Michael co-founded Jive Communications in his early 20s, selling Hosted VoIP to SMBs. Over ~13 years, he helped grow it to about 800 employees and tens of thousands of customers before exiting.

Why DialStack exists: every vSaaS leader I talked to wanted voice inside their product, but the choices were brutal. Build the regulated telco yourself (years of work, real risk), or hand your customers to a third-party (lose the relationship, the data, the margin). Neither is actually a path. So we built the thing we couldn’t find. DialStack is a phone system and VoiceAI engine you embed in your UI, white-label as your own, and run as a high-margin revenue line. Your brand, your billing, your data. We carry the carrier-of-record burden so you don’t have to.

If you run a vSaaS platform and the voice question keeps coming up (click-to-call, screen pops, call recording, AI voice agents, all of it), I’d love to compare notes.

If you’re an investor with portcos in vertical SaaS, Michael is always happy to walk through what they’re seeing. The math on embedded voice is real, and it’s underrated.

Outside of work, Michael has lived in San Diego with his wife of 20 years and their five awesome kids. He sings tenor with the San Diego Saints Choir, serves as a Founder at the BYU Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship, sits on the Board of the SDSU Lavin Entrepreneurship Center, and serves in lay leadership at his local congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
