New this year, we’re expanding our platform by launching Startup Week x – the official community-driven track for San Diego Startup Week. This is your opportunity to host your own independently-run free event—a panel, workshop, pitch night, networking mixer, demo showcase, or something brand new—and be featured as an official part of San Diego Startup Week!

Whether you’re an avid organizer or new to the scene, Startup Week x gives you the platform, support, and spotlight to reach 2,000+ startup stakeholders across the region between October 6th-10th, 2025. We’re calling on all community organizers, industry leaders, founders, funders, service providers, and changemakers to create something extraordinary.

Startup Week x is a series of free, community-driven events designed to amplify visibility, accessibility, and connectivity to our region’s vast resources, industries, verticals for growth, & communities.

We want your event to be a success. The Event Host & Resource Guide will help make your event successful & collectively make this the best San Diego Startup Week yet!

Guidelines & Criteria to Host a Startup Week X
Community Event

To be added to the official San Diego Startup Week Calendar, your submission must be approved and meet the following approval criteria, including (but not limited to):

  1. The event must be free for all attendees. In an effort to keep entry accessible to the startup community, we encourage organizers to leverage Eventship’s sponsorship marketplace to help cover event costs. 
  2. The event has a startup ecosystem community, resource, awareness, or educational-related focus.
  3. The event serves the regional startup community by being located in San Diego County or Tijuana, Mexico. 
  4. The event meets conference participant expectations of high standards of integrity and respectful conduct. Fraudulent activity, harmful behavior, or any form of harassment will not be tolerated.

  • Please do not schedule your event during the following San Diego Startup Week conference programming times (i.e., keynotes, pitch competitions, & official receptions).
    • October 6th: 2:00 – 7:00 PM
    • October 8th: 3:00 – 8:00 PM
    • October 10th: 1:00 – 9:00 PM
  • The host organizer is responsible for all aspects of the event, including venue, sponsors, food, speakers, and any other logistical needs.
  • The host organizer has full control over its guestlist and attendance count.
  • While we strongly encourage events to be open to everyone, we understand this may not always be feasible due to specific goals, costs, or venue limitations.

  • All events are approved at the discretion of Startup San Diego’s Board. The approval process can take 5-7 working days.

Host Timeline & How to Host an Event

08/04 – Event submissions open! Approvals are made on an ongoing basis.
08/29 – Submission date for inclusion in the calendar announcement launch.
09/02 – Calendar Announcement: Full calendar of community events goes live & registration opens for all attendees.

  • NOTE: Hosts can still submit events until 09/19, but they will not be included in the big calendar announcement on 09/02.

09/19 – Final date to submit an event.
09/22 – LAST Announcement: Call for Registrations for San Diego Startup Week x events
10/06 – San Diego Startup Week Begins!

1. Create a free Eventship account for your company, organization, group, or self (for individual organizers). Eventship is the official registration page and calendar platform for San Diego Startup Week and Startup Week x community events.

2. Create your event registration page(s) on Eventship

    • Please follow the event host & branding guidelines.
    • Navigate to the SD Startup Week Eventship “All Events” tab, and click “+ Submit an event” to “Create a new event” OR “Submit existing event.”

3. Submit your San Diego Startup Week x Community Event Proposal HERE. Our team will contact you regarding the status of your proposal within 5-7 business days of receiving your submission.  

4. Assuming your event meets the guidelines to host a Startup Week X community event, our team will approve and add the event to the official San Diego Startup Week Calendar!
