The Social Track

SDSW networking events that help you get the most from Startup Week!

Everyday social events and fairs are here to bring the community together! Join in on the festivities to meet San Diego’s entrepreneurs, developers, designers, makers and innovators! Connect with attendees, discover new opportunities, and get the most out of your Startup Week.

The events & social series features four fairs and three networking events to help you connect.

Social Events

The social events of Startup Week serve to allow attendees the chance to meet the whole of the community that has chosen to attend. Each year the networking that happens at these events leads to business opportunities, new jobs, great friendships, and at least one occurence of a relationship that has led to marriage! Come embrace the community!

Opening Ceremony

To kick off the week with a bang, we have planned an opening party to knock your socks off! Join us at the Hard Rock Hotel where you will be able to network with the San Diego startup community while you enjoy great food, drinks, and our special guests showcasing technology of the future! Thanks to Cox Business for being our sponsor. *Due to venue restrictions, this will be a 21 and up event.

Arlan Hamilton of Backstage Capital is the keynote speaker this year, and you can’t afford to miss being able to witness her. From living at the airport to running a Venture Capital form that has now made over 100 investments, she has a story to inspire a generation.

Startup Crawl

One of the most fun events of the week is the Startup Crawl! Join hundreds of SDSW attendees as you traverse the downtown area visiting startups and seeing their spaces. Company representatives will tell you about their mission and how they are changing things. We strongly encourage you to mingle with and thank each company. Many past attendees have found jobs through the Crawl! The crawl concludes with an after party at an undisclosed location which will be one of your fondest memories!

Founder Fight Night and Closing Party

Fight Night allows the audience to see budding entrepreneurs pitch their startups in three different rounds. Each company advances only with the blessing of the audience who is encouraged to vote via chanting for their chosen winner. This year, we will also be hosting the closing party with Fight Night. Once the competition has concluded guests are welcome to mix and mingle as we pump the music and thank you all for an incredible week. See you there!

For the first time in Startup Week history we will have four fairs that feature different segments of our startup community. Attendees have the opportunity to connect with freelancer talent, community resources, local startups, and employer. These face-to-face meetings connect you with who you need to know about the startup community.
